After Disney has been accused of “whitewashing” Chinese characters, Liu Yifei aka Crystal Liu was chosen to play Mulan on the big screen.
Disney released Mulan in 1998, a Chinese tale about a legendary female warrior, and 17 years later decides to adapt it as movie. The live action movie will be directed by Nikki Caro and on the big screen in 2019.
The 30 years old actress played in dozens of films and began her career in television. Liu is fluent in both Chinese and English and starred in the “Chinese Widow” with Emile Hirsch and the “Forbidden Kingdom” with Jackie Chan and Jet Li.
